Service description

Dead Man's Switch is a Telegram bot that monitors your periodic check-ins and notifies your trusted contact if you stop responding within your configured time window. The service may optionally deliver a pre-written encrypted message.

Service provided "as is"

The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, timely delivery, or error-free operation of the bot.

No delivery guarantees

While we make every reasonable effort to deliver notifications and messages to your trusted contact, we cannot guarantee delivery. Factors outside our control — including Telegram API outages, network issues, or recipient account restrictions — may affect delivery. Do not rely on this service as your sole safety mechanism for critical situations.

User responsibility

You are responsible for:

Keeping your check-in schedule current and appropriate for your needs
Ensuring your trusted contact is valid and reachable on Telegram
The content of any messages you store in the bot
Not storing raw passwords, secret keys, or other sensitive credentials directly in your message (use pointers instead)

Abuse policy

You may not use the service to:

Send threatening, harassing, or illegal content
Spam or send unsolicited messages to people who have not been designated as your trusted contact
Attempt to exploit, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the bot's operation
Use the service for any purpose that violates applicable laws

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Dead Man's Switch and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
